OUR SKIN IS LIKE THE RAINBOW!

There are over 70 different skin colors throughout the world in 195 countries! Like DNA, which gives us our unique characteristics, the skin color of human beings is different based on where are ancestors are from!  For example, people who live near the equator tend to have darker skin to help protect them from the harsh sun. Melatonin is what gives our skin its glorious color!

WHAT IS IT MADE OF?

Our skin is made up of three layers; The Epidermis, the Dermis and the Subcutaneous tissue. The best way to protect your skin is by avoiding lengthy time in harsh sunlight. You can wear a big straw hat and look glamorous at the same time! Take care of your skin by taking baths or showers that are not too hot and dry off with a clean towel. Finish by applying moisturizer to keep the skin from getting dry during the day. Like the strongest saran wrap in the world, skin forms a barrier that prevents harmful substances and microorganisms from entering the body, protecting all the inner body organs like the liver  glands, stomach, heart etc. Human beings need their skin to survive!

OH NO! MY SKIN IS BREAKING OUT!

During puberty when hormones go into overdrive, the skin tends to overproduce sebum, (a natural oil the body makes to moisturize the skin.) All of a sudden you may find pimples on your forehead, nose, and chin, areas most prone to excess oil. Gently wash your face morning and night with a warm white washcloth and non-foaming cleanser. After you cleanse your skin, you can apply a natural skin cream to help restore moisture. If you still have concerns about your skin, visit a dermatologist who can help you resolve your most challenging skin issues! Have a good day and don’t forget your sun hat!
