OUR MIGHTY MUSCLES!
Muscles are like gigantic rubber bands that help move our body parts. The stronger we keep our muscles, the more durable our bodies stay. There are so many ways to safely keep our muscles strong! Grab a group of friends and play a game of basketball, ping pongm or jump in the pool! If you live in a cooler climate – do some skating! You can also get involved in sports like running, biking, or if those aren’t for you – go on a long walk! Or do some pushups!
WHAT KINDS OF MUSCLES DO WE HAVE IN OUR BODY?
We have 3 different types of muscles in our body. Skeletal Muscles are the muscles we use when we move around. Then we have Smooth Muscles, these are special muscles that don’t connect to bones, but they help the organs in our body like the heart! The heart has a muscle called the Cardiac Muscle – this muscle pumps our heart and blood through our body. Have you ever hurt your muscle after exercising? You may not have prepared your body. The best way to prepare the body before exercising or playing sports, is by stretching and lightly jogging. Stretching warms the muscles and makes them more flexible. Cool-down exercises loosen tightened muscles after and during exercise.
HOW DO I KEEP MY MUSCLES HEALTHY and STRONG!
To keep your muscles strong – you should exercise and eat a healthy diet that includes sufficient of protein! These foods are beans, beets, brown rice, cantaloupe, cottage cheese, eggs and green vegetables such as asparagus, peas, spinach and broccoli as well as occasional grass-fed meat.
