Eyes are Like Windows to Our Soul

Our eyes are considered to be the most wonderful things we have. They’re like tiny cameras that process the light and create the images we see. They come in all different colors; dark and light brown, blue, green, grey and sometimes amber. Our eyes allow us to see the beauty in our world and so many other things. The expression, “The eyes are the windows to the soul”  is often used to describe the way someone feels when they look into another person’s eyes. You can tell how a person feels through his or her eyes, whether they’re sad, happy, or trying to hide something they’re too scared or shy to share.

Like windows, the eyes look both ways. They connect to others and see the world around us. Vision is important because it helps us identify people, creatures, and objects.  Vision is important because it allows us to connect with our surroundings and keep us safe. A person who can see a car coming knows to stay on the sidewalk so that he or she will not be hit and injured. In fact, our eye-sight is the most important sense for safety.

Protecting your eyes and your sight is highly important so that you may avoid harm. So how do we keep our eyes healthy and shining bright? Think orange! The vitamin c in Clementines, oranges and mandarins keep the eyes shining bright and strong. The next time you are eating an orange or a clementine, think about what a good thing you are doing for your eyes! Wear sunglasses to protect them when you are out in the sunshine – eyes are delicate, they need protection! But most importantly, get plenty of rest. The eyes work hard all day. Remember they are with you for the rest of your life. An actress named Audrey Hepburn who spent a great part of her life helping others was known to say, “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
