Every living, breathing thing has it! We are born with a little over a pint of it and by the time we hit adulthood we will have up to four or five quarts! Blood! It’s the only tissue in our body that touches every other part of the body. Like a river, blood comes out of the heart, goes into the arteries then through a maze of capillaries and back to the heart again. It takes about one minute for blood to make the round trip to the heart. If you are running fast, your heart is pumping more blood so the time would be less.
BLOOD FEEDS AND CLEANS US!
Blood is more important than food because it not only feeds us and cleans us, but it delivers fresh oxygen and other nutrients to all 100 trillion cells of the body! Blood cleans us by flushing out carbon dioxide, ammonia and other things that shouldn’t be in the body. Some people say it defends us against world pollution!
WHAT IS IT MADE OF?
Blood is made up of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, white blood cells, that fight infections, platelets – cells that help you stop bleeding if you cut yourself and plasma, a yellowish liquid that carries nutrients, hormones, and proteins throughout the body.
HOW TO KEEP YOUR BLOOD HEALTHY!
Exercise daily to keep oxygen running through your body so your blood can do its job! Drink lots of water. Breathe in fresh healthy air and breathe deeply! Do not smoke and do your best to avoid smoky places. Blood loves nutrients, so don’t forget to eat lots of greens, avocados, fresh coconut, lemons, limes and grapefruit!
